It is May 1st and I am going to start on another journey.... a juice fast.
I am not sure how long I am going to do it. I plan to do it for a week and if at that time I want to continue, I will keep doing it one day at a time. It would be great if I could do it for 60 days but I don't want to put the pressure on myself. So many times before I set these big goals and when I realize that I will not be able to reach them, I quit. I hoping to prevent a fail so I only set a week as my goal and I will only think of getting through today and not about getting through the next 7 days.
Why did I decide to do a juice fast? Last year I watched the documentary Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead where Joe Cross goes on a juice fast for 60 days. He lost a quite a bit of weight, had energy and he felt great. That is what I want.... to feel good... to have energy.... and to lose weight.
I have also watched several other documentaries about food like: Food Matters; Food, Inc; Ingredients, Fresh and Food Fight. All of them had great information about food and the importance of eating fresh fruits and vegetables and meat that is organic. Meat from animals that are actually able to walk around and eat plants like they are suppose to. I have watched a couple of the documentaries over again so I can get the message is my head. I want to eat fresh fruits and vegetables and fresh organic meat. To get to that place I feel I need to go on a juice fast to "detoxify" my body from all the processed crap that I eat on a daily basis. I figured it will retrain my brain to like the fruits and vegetables and when I am done with the fast, I will make better food choices. My children are coming with me on this journey. They will be drinking juices as a supplement to their diet and they will be making healthier food choices. Before I got up this morning, Hayden already made a great breakfast choice by having an apple and an whole wheat english muffin with peanut butter. Ellie this morning had me make her an orange carrot juice. Smelling the carrot while drinking was a little much for her but she drank the juice. I will try just straight fruit juices and I will introduce the fruit/vegetables juices a little later this week.
I want to say that I think I have FINALLY turned over a leaf and I am on the road to healthier eating and lifestyle but I have said it before and have failed. My family has stood by me on my every adventure. I really hope this is the last one! I know this is something I want so desperately to do... so hear goes.
